If you want to set up online success and passive income opportunities on the Internet then you’re going to need to have a solid understanding of how to go about doing keyword research in relation to the competition that is out there.
So today I wanted just to give you some quick tips on how you can go about assessing your competition for keywords that you are wanting to target and rank well for in Google or other search engines. First of all if you’re serious about making income online then make sure you are using the browser Mozilla Firefox. It has great SEO plugins that you can use to do your research.
If you have this browser set up I would download the useful plugin tool SEO Quake. This plugin will tell us some important information when looking at the top few results in Google. The results we’ll be concerned with here are the domains age and also the PR (page rank). I won’t go into how to set it up but this lovely little plug in will display all of that crucial information.
The next step is to take the keyword you are thinking about targeting and type it into good old Google. After we get our results back underneath the top domains the information we need will pop up. Below is the list of factors you should be checking for to see if your chosen keyword is heavy competition and if you have a chance of ranking and making any income with it.
- Domain age (The older the name the more authority they will have)
- Page rank (If page rank is 4 or higher it’s going to be pretty tough to beat quickly and will take more work)
- Is the keyword in the URL (If the keyword is in the url they will get more credit for that keyword too)
- Is the keyword in the website title displayed in Google (If the keyword is in the title means their title is optimized for that keyword)
Basically if a site has all of the four factors above mentioned then they will be fairly tough competition. That being said it doesn’t mean you should be giving up on the keyword that you had chosen and your online success towards making residual income. What it does mean is that you’ll have to work a bit harder. Good luck and more on SEO tips and tricks from me soon!
Have a story for you today about my online income opportunities quest and a big mistake I made today. Yes I learned from the mistake but it definitely cost me some of my hard earned income. Of course I’m really upset about it but as I’ve preached to you before I can’t let problems that pop up slow me down on my road to web wealth and generating a solid passive income.
Now I’ve talked to you folks before that when wanting to get ranked in Google if you have a new domain name it can take a long time because of the “Sandbox”. I’ve spoken about it before but just to review the Google sandbox can go into effect on all new domains under 1 year old. What happens is even if your website is SEO optimized perfectly and you have some links pointing towards your site you may not get found for keyword searches until your site matures a bit and is permitted out of the infamous sandbox.
So as I’ve told you if you are in a rush to be found and start making online passive income with your website businesses and opportunities then you need to seek out pre-owned domains at the website FreshDrop.com. Now if you buy a closeout or expired domain from this site you are fine and your purchased domain name will keep its age.
But what I learned is that if you buy a pre-owned domain off any of the other websites like Afternic, Network Solutions, etc then your new URL’s creation date will get re-set. What this means is that even though it was old it is treated by Google as new and therefore you can still hit the dreaded sandbox.
Well guys today I blew it. I have a business related niche that I want work on related to making residual income and I paid $200 for it. It was great. Keywords in domain, short, nicely aged (6 years), and the list goes on. Today I went to check out the WHOIS info and I saw it says it was created in November 2008. My heart jumped a beat. I thought I had it all figured out and was about to rank well and therefore make some good online income off of this puppy. Well I was wrong and learned a valuable lesson about online business success.
After I saw this I called a friend of mine (an experience Internet marketer) and he told me “yeah if you buy an expired or closeout domain you are fine, but any other aged domain will get re-set”. I’m upset about my $200. Hopefully I can sell this domain since it’s a nice one but I won’t be able to use it for the online income opportunity that I was imagining unless I want to sit around for months waiting in the sandbox. Lessons learned folks. Wanted to share this with you so you don’t do the same thing.
When working on creating online wealth and residual income opportunities you need to be smart and invest in certain things that will actually make you some money back as well as save you some time on your quest for online passive income streams.
Today I wanted to give you a brief list of some of the things you should be considering investing in if you are starting to think about taking this money making game seriously. This list is not in any particular order of importance but it’s just a few of the things I’ve been using and I can say I do notice results.
www.articlemarketer.com – This is article submission software. Although they have little to none customer service they are a great way to get your articles distributed around the Internet and also help you build up valuable backlinks wich you need if you want to rank well in the search engines.
www.fastblogfinder.com – This is software that only costs about $50 that helps you locate different high PR (page rank) blogs that are relevant to your niche. After you find high PR blogs you can leave your comments on various posts which is another great way to build up links to your growing website or blog

I am currently a memember of this site and I can say if you watch all the short videos you’ll have a great understanding of SEO and how it is used to earn income online. You can try it out for 1 month and then cancel and I think it will only cost you $4.95 for priceless Internet marketing education.
So as I said if you really want to make passive and residual income on the Internet start investing in some tools. If not you’ll be wasting the most valuable resource of all – your time.
When it comes to earning income on your blog it’s not something that you want to rush into. This is a big misconception that so many people that are new to this game on the web are failing to see. Today I just want to speak to you about a few money making tips that I’ve learned if you want to set up your blog or website.
First off don’t only choose a topic that you enjoy which is what most people will tell you to do but also select a topic to write about that has some profit potential. If you’re developing a blog with no hope of income or monetization then just write about anything that you love. But if you do want to make income with your blog then there is some research that you’ll need to do.
There are a few things that you can do in order to tell if the topic you have chosen has any revenue potential. First off is go to the Google Adwords tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and type your keywords or blogging topic into here. You’ll be able to find out what kind of money advertisers are paying for each click. I like to go after niches with keywords that charge at least $2.50 and up. Remember to also check what kind of competition you are up against. I’ll talk about competition analysis in a future post.
Another great way to find out if your chosen field has potential is to go to some of the top search results in Google especially the other successful blogs in that area. If they have lots of advertising from big names and they look like pretty high end sites that is usually a good indicator that there is cash to be made in that area.
Also remember one other thing if you want to create wealth online or any money for that matter have patience and don’t start to monetize your blog or website until you have some steady flows of traffic. I know at the beginning when you’re getting a few visitors a day it’s tempting but I would hold up for a while. Have patience and the income will follow!
As you folks build up your passive income internet sites you are going to want to have as many links coming into your blog or website as possible. As you all know by now the more quality and related links you can round up the better. You’ll end up being positioned higher on the search engines and the more business and web traffic your residual income website will get.
So what’s all this talk about link exchanges? Well as some of you savvy SEO bloggers may have already picked up on it’s a good idea to try and get your link into other peoples “blogrolls” or “links” categories. Especially if the websites are of good quality and they are related to your own blog or website this will be a great opportunity for your business website to rank much higher in the search engines.
Now because Google and the other engines are smart companies they have already picked up on the fact that people are doing link exchanges and have now discounted some of the “juice” from blogrolls. But there is an option you can do that will work wonders and I’ll explain it to you now.
What you’re going to want to do is once you have built up a relationship with another website owner you should ask them to have a link pointing to your site or blog in one of their articles. As of this time links that are found within content are still very valuable. You could do an exchange and ask for them to put a link to your site into one of their articles and then you can do the same for them. Remember to get them to try and use your desired anchor text or at least something related to what you are trying to rank for in the search engines.
So remember as you work towards getting higher rankings and earning more residual income online you need to start getting really up to date with SEO strategies that work today and not just the ones that worked yesterday. Good luck and stay savvy!

Welcome to part three in my SEO tips series today on how to make residual income online through the knowledge of SEO and search engine strategies. I got inspired to write this short post after going through hundreds of high powered investment and financial blogs and reviewing their content. Something hit me, although many bloggers have great blogs and I really respect them for that, they don’t seem to have basic knowledge of SEO and how to turn their blog into a passive income generator.
I’ve talked a bit on this blog about how important it is to have the keywords you’re trying to rank for in your title tags. I’ve also mentioned how important it is to try and include your keywords in the titles of your posts as well. Today I want to talk to you about the importance of having your main keywords in your anchor text that you’re putting out all over the internet.
Many of you have done a great job of building up your page rank through posting on your blog, commenting on related blogs, and doing link exchanges with other bloggers. This is great and you should continue to do this but one thing you need to try and do is when you do blogroll exchange links with other bloggers try to get keyword phrases into these links.
For example if you have a blog about online investing then make sure you try and include that in the links you get to your site. Have links to your blog like Online Investing, Online Money Investments, etc. Don’t have something like “Pete’s EZ Investment Blog”. The reason I recommend this is because Google and other search engines will start to recognize what your blog is related to and then rank you high when users search for related terms. Remember no one is typing in “Pete’s EZ Investment Blog” but they are typing in all sorts of phrases like “Online Investing Blogs”.
Having a great blog that readers love is perfect. What I’m saying today is go about it strategically. Build it into a residual income opportunity the wise way. When you get a new link to your site from another blog think about what you want them to put as the anchor text – Search engines will love you for it and you’ll get more traffic and also more cash flow.
When starting to learn all about how you can earn online passive income you really need to choose a few good blogs to start reading often and just dissect everything that they talk about in relation to the subject. The great thing about this method is there are just so many good quality blogs on the internet these days that deal with building up passive income streams, investing, real estate, and much more. The hard part is just choosing which ones to read.
I must admit that on the Internet, information overload is one of the most difficult things to deal with. There are just so many websites or blogs out there. Some are great and many are also filled with information that is not too good. So what do you do to deal with this? I recommend finding a few blogs or newsletters that you are really learning from and just stick to those. You really need to block out the rest.
Below are a few of my personal favorite websites or blogs that focus mostly on learning about how to make residual income online:
If you visit and study from this list alone you will learn tons about making online passive income. What I would do is make up your mind to read 1 hour per day from each of these sites and ignore the rest. Or make your own list of about 3 or 4 blogs max and just read them for a maximum of 1 hour per day. Spend the rest of your time applying what you are learning and keep working on trying to set up you income business opportunities!
We all want to make online income and get excited about it when we start out. One common mistake that many beginners in this exciting game start to do is they build way too many websites to handle. Now don’t get me wrong here, having a bunch of websites is recommended and a great business model to follow. If you do that it means you’re setting up more and more internet residual income business opportunities. What I’m trying to say here is if you are building multiple websites to make sure that you at least set up a basic checklist for each website that you try out to see what kind of results you get before you move on to developing your next passive income yielding website!
So what exactly do I mean by doing them properly and how do you actually go about setting up a website that can produce passive income for you? Well you need to cover the bases with each of your sites that you actually want to do well with.
Some steps I like to follow for new websites are the following:
• Spend time on each site selecting your keywords that you will go after.
• Choose a good domain name preferably with your keywords in it and if possible, buy yourself an aged domain name.
• Write some keyword related articles/posts (at least 10 or more pages). These posts should be SEO optimized.
• Install the free Stat Counter Software
• Start building those links! Article marketing, blog roll exchanges, commenting, etc.
At the beginning stage there is no need to focus too heavily on the design. If your site starts to get a bunch of traffic at that time you can put more time and energy in to the graphic design side of things. If your site really doesn’t work out for you then at least you won’t have wasted tons of time on doing up a design that doesn’t help produce the income you are going after.
There is no doubt that not all your sites will turn out to be income producing machines but some of them will definitely have potential. What I usually like to do is spend some time on the above list for each website and then start up my next. After about 2 or 3 months if you did your keyword research right, did proper SEO optimization and followed the above tips you should start to see some traffic. If not at that point you can continue to try and work on developing your website or you can leave it for the time being and work on more promising websites. From personal experience some sites will start getting traffic quicker then others.
So if you are actually serious about making an income online and turning this into a true business opportunity then you really need to perform the above to each website you build to see if it has potential. There is no problem in having a bunch of sites that you are working on but make sure that if you want to see the true potential at least follow the basic steps outlined above!
We all know that to make a good income online we need good traffic coming to our websites and blogs. If you play the game correctly this internet web traffic will turn into residual income streams that will continue to grow as long as you maintain what you have built and keep working those keywords!
So how do you know what keywords people are using to find your current website? Well I recommend using a free tool called Stat Counter. I really love it and use it to track statistics of any and all of my websites. It has a bunch of cool features like how many visitors you’ve received, detailed visitor information, browser statistics, what page they exited on and more. But when it comes to building up my SEO I really like to use their keyword features.
In Stat Counter they have what is called the “keyword analysis” and “recent keyword activity”. This is where things get really interesting in terms of SEO and earning income online. You will be able to see what words people are using to find your website as well as a list of how many times each term has been used to find your website.
So let me give you an example. Say your website is about “making money on the Internet”. You might start to notice that many of the people coming to your site through search engines are finding you through the term “make cash on the web”. What often happens is you aren’t even going after that term but the search engines are ranking you high for that.
Here is the juicy part. What I then do is make a small list of the words people are using to find my site and then start using them in my site. Ways that you can use them is write some posts with the keywords in the title, add the keywords as tags if you’re using word press, and also inside posts that you write make that new keyword an anchored link back to your homepage or better yet the post that relates to it. You can also start using these new found keywords in your article marketing efforts.
So if you’re taking your online residual income business seriously then you really need to start learning more about how your users are interacting with your website or blog and also how they are finding you. Once you start to use the above technique you will really start to notice your current online income grow as well as your site traffic!
If you’re really serious and actually want to get into making residual income online and setting up related business opportunities then you’re really going to need to invest some time in learning all about SEO and how to actually go about doing it.
I can tell you right now that any website out there on the Internet that is getting good targeted web traffic and making passive income off affiliate marketing, web advertising, or whatever model they chose has a good understanding of SEO and the basics.
So where do you go to learn SEO so you can start to make income online? Well first off at this blog. I have written a few articles already and will continue to post more tips and tricks on SEO as I learn them myself. For now I’ll just give you a little clue – it’s all about building up links from other websites with the keywords you want to rank for as the anchor text. More details on that too come.
You can also visit a few blogs that I really enjoy going to learn about making residual money online through SEO tactics like www.seozombie.com and www.seomoz.org. If you make it a habit to absorb as much as you can about SEO and how people get top rankings in search engines it will soon pay off as you start to see heavy traffic come in from the search engines.
